High-Fibre Overnight Oats with Leftover Juice Pulp
Looking for a perfectly portable breakfast to take camping this summer?
Whether you’re headed on an overnight adventure or day trip, having a healthy breakfast ready to go can be a game-changer! The best part - this recipe uses leftover juice pulp to add dietary fibre and reduce food waste.
The night before, prepare your favourite juice using your MOD Cold Press Juicer to sip on in the morning (for this recipe, we combined carrot, apple and pear).
Make sure you save the pulp and keep it refrigerated until you are ready to use it - this stuff is fibre and flavour gold!
Fibre plays an important role in lowering the risk of heart disease, type II diabetes and bowel cancer. Having a high fibre breakfast will help you feel fuller longer as well as help with digestion and prevent constipation. There are two types of fibre, insoluble and soluble, and both play an important role in the body.
The American Heart Association recommends a total dietary fibre intake of 25 - 30 grams per day from food, not supplements. The average adult only eats 15 grams of fiber per day, only half the recommended amount.
The process of cold press juicing removes the insoluble fibre from your produce, leaving the soluble fibre intact. This allows your body to directly absorb all those important nutrients. It is still important to consume a diet rich in insoluble fibre, however, and a really easy way to boost your insoluble fibre intake is to repurpose your juice pulp into a new, yummy recipe!
