The mango and banana make this smooth naturally sweet and extra creamy and it is packed with so many good things.

Hemp seeds are an awesome source of both protein and essential fatty acids. The body is unable to produce essential fatty acids on it’s own yet they are crucial for long term health, therefore it is super important that they are regularly included in your diet.

Psyllium husk is also a great addition to smoothies. Not only does it work to thicken smoothies, it is a great source of fibre and is fantastic for gut health. If you don’t have any on hand, chia or flax seeds can be substituted in for a similar result.

Lastly, a note on maca powder. Maca is becoming more and more common and now can often be found in the health food isle of most major supermarkets (otherwise head to your local Whole Foods). It has a slightly earthy, caramel taste that adds a nice complexity to this smoothie. It is loaded with a number of important nutrients including vitamin C, copper and iron. If you can’t get your hands on any, subbed for extra hemp seeds and a pinch more cinnamon.
